11 days until Total Colectomy surgery at the age of 29. FAP doesn't care how old you are when it decided to take over your colon.

My story started 7 years ago when I was diagnosed from a genetic test with having FAP and a couple short months later I discovered I already had multiple polyps with a medium sized polyp in my rectum. The polyp in my rectum and multiple others came back the following year despite being removed. Each year I would continue to get my yearly colonoscopies fully knowing that one day I would be told my luck of keeping my colon had run out. This year I woke up to the words "you have hundreds of polyps and we need to discuss surgery." On April 21st I will undergo a total colectomy to remove my entire colon. My story and battle with FAP will not stop once I have surgery as my next task is getting my infant daughter tested for it. We are awaiting an appointment with a genetist. Knowing whether she has the gene is crucial so we can be prepared for what sort of screenings she will need and how early if she has the gene. Unfortunately, she has a 50% chance of inheriting this dominant aggressive gene from me.
