My father told me about a possible genetic FAP disorder in my early 20’s. I immediately scheduled an appointment with a GI doctor. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy. To my doctor’s surprise I did have a polyp. I was screened every year. Later the screenings were every 6 months. I followed my doctor’s advice and met with a surgeon. Eventually I was told it was time to have a subtotal colectomy. The surgery was successful. Later I was diagnosed with C Diff. I fought 4 additional C Diff infections during the first year post-op. A taper off the antibiotic cured the 5th infection. I got sick with a cold a year later and C Diff resurfaced. If it’s related I don’t know. I met with a doctor at the Mayo Clinic for a fecal transplant screening. It was approved and scheduled. I had a great 2 weeks following the FMT. I am currently suspicious of C Diff resurfacing again and impatiently waiting to discuss the next step.
