I rode 13 miles towards my goal!

Many of you know that I have had progression of my cancer recently which has caused me to start back on a more intense form of chemotherapy. Although it wears on my body and I can be extremely fatigued at times, I am committed to staying active. There is research that shows exercise can benefit people in my situation. So what a better way to stay active then to take part in the 2025 National Tour de Tush, a ride to end colon cancer!
I have decided to set a goal to ride 195 miles in the month of May. In full disclosure, some of these miles take place indoor on a stationary bike because there are just some days that I cannot risk being too far from a bathroom. Sorry if that is TMI, but that is my reality.
I decided to set my goat at 195 miles because as of today as a result of my colorectal cancer I have had:
82 infusions of chemotherapies or targeted therapies
18 radiation treatments
6 surgeries
and spent 89 weeks taking 6-7 chemo pills a day.
I added these numbers to get 195.
Wes is joining me and his own riding goals. We are working together as a team to raise funds for this cause. If you would like to throw a couple bucks toward our team goal it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about the campaign.
It is estimated that nearly 154,000 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year. Colorectal cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and, by 2030, is projected to be the #1 cause of cancer deaths for adults under 50.
We are going the distance (in miles!) for all those affected by colorectal cancer while raising awareness and funds for research in the Tour de Tush.
Together, we can make a difference! One hundred percent of the funds raised from this event will go toward research efforts for colorectal cancer.
Colorectal Cancer can be preventable, treatable, and beatable. Let's work together to spread awareness and funds for research to ensure this statement rings true. Feel free to come back and check my progress. You may see big streaks of inactivity. Those will be the days following my chemo treatments, but I hope that having this goal will motivate me to bounce back and do some pedaling.
Thanks,
Mandy
