This September, my sister Briana and I are heading to Seattle for the Living with Lynch workshop and participating in the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K to raise funds for colon cancer research.

For us, this isn’t just another walk...it’s quite personal. We both live with Lynch syndrome (MSH2 mutation), a genetic condition that increases the risk of many cancers. For Briana, that’s meant a stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis and a major life-altering surgery this year. We’re walking to honor her strength, to stand with every family impacted, and to support the Colon Cancer Coalition’s mission to expand education, awareness, and access to life-saving screenings.

Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the U.S., but it doesn’t have to be. When caught early, survival rates are over 90%. Every dollar raised helps fund prevention, screening, and research-real steps that save lives.
