I was diagnosed with Stage IIIb rectal cancer on May 23, 2024 following an urgent colonoscopy that I've been fighting to get for years. That means the tumor has grown through the muscularis layer and there are 4-6 lymph nodes involved (T2N2aM0 for those who understand it in those terms). My treatment plan is 8 rounds of IV chemo (FOLFOX) followed by 28 rounds of radiation with oral chemo (Xeloda). We hope that chemo and radiation will take care of it and I won't need surgery.
Saturday September 21 is my weekend free from chemo! Come join us!
Did you know that colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer? Only lung cancer kills more Americans each year than colon cancer, but it doesn't have to be that way. Regular, early screening is essential to catching this disease before it begins and in its earliest stages.
Survival rate is over 90% when caught in early stages.
