Welcome to our team page!

Please join us in supporting the Colon Cancer Coalition’s mission to reduce barriers to colorectal cancer screening and educate the public about life saving colorectal cancer screening options. Together, we can make a difference.

Two years ago Todd Colburn was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer with spread to his liver, lungs, and peritoneum. This past year the cancer continued to spread to two spots on his spine (L1 and T6) and his right iliac crest (the top portion of his pelvis).

The L1 spinal lesion resulted in a compression fracture requiring a procedure to stablize the vertebrae (called a kyphoplasty). While in the hospital for the kypho, he developed a blockage requiring the removal of a portion of his colon and an ostomy. Despite removing additional peritoneal tumors during the colon surgery, a local recurrence began to strangle one of his ureters putting his kidney at risk, and requiring a permanent stent.

He has gone through 12 rounds of platinum based FOLFOX therapy (resulting in permanent neuropathy in his hands and feet), 16 rounds of FOLFIRI, 6 weeks of Capecitabine, and a G12C clinical trial - all of which he has now developed resistance to. To say that the treatment is worse than the disease is an understatement, and he has been SUCH a warrior determined to fight hard every day.

Todd was 47 when he was diagnosed. While that sounds young, colon cancer is occurring at a younger and younger age. Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer. Only lung cancer kills more Americans each year than colon cancer, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Regular, early screening is essential to catching this disease before it begins and in its earliest stages.

Survival rate is over 90% when caught in early stages.
