April 7th is the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K in San Antonio. Please join my team, Team Monica, to help spread awareness for colorectal cancer. If we can spread awareness and encourage others to get screened, we can save lives from a cancer that is curable if caught early. I can't do it alone so please consider walking and/or fundraising with me.

Please join me in supporting the Colon Cancer Coalition's mission to reduce barriers to colorectal cancer screening and educate the public about life saving CRC screening options. The funds raised for this will be utilized for screening initiatives in the local community, patient support, cancer research, and education and awareness. My story - I was diagnosed when I was 32 years old and just six weeks postpartum. I have been cancer free since June 1, 2021. I underwent two surgeries and completed 12 rounds of chemo (FOLFOX). I had a temporary ileostomy that was reversed in 2022. I'm currently on a six month scan schedule and, God willing, I will be switching to annual scans this summer. I have an incredible amount of support from my amazing family and friends.

Cancer does not define who I am but I'd be in denial if I were to say it won't be a part of me forever. I only allow cancer to fuel the passion I have to raise awareness and bring hope to others. I do this for my kids, family and for all those who I've known and lost to colon cancer. 💙

Stats: Did you know that colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer? Regular, early screening is essential to catching this disease before it begins and in its earliest stages.

Survival rate is over 90% when caught in early stages.
