My 2025 Get Your Rear in Gear - Portland Personal Page

At the age of 37 I was diagnosed with stage 3C colorectal cancer. After going to urgent care, I was told I had hemorrhoids, and it wasn't until several months later when a relative had bleeding from polyps that I went back to my primary care. After a few more months of waiting for a GI appointment I was given a colonoscopy where they found a tumor and at that point it had spread to several nodes. I underwent surgery and six months of chemotherapy. Last week I got the incredible news that my scan and blood tests were all clear and my five-year surveillance period was over. I feel beyond lucky to be here today and one of the ways I try to show that is by supporting the Colon Cancer Coalition.
I am forever grateful for the community that supported me during my cancer journey. I don't want anyone to ever have to experience the fear of a cancer diagnosis, the ups and downs of treatment, and the long-term impacts. That is why I support the CCC's mission.
Thank you for helping by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar we raise will advance Colon Cancer Coalition's great cause of empowering local communities to promote prevention and early detection of colon cancer, and to provide support to those affected. Together, we can make a difference!
Did you know that colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer? Only lung cancer kills more Americans each year than colon cancer, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Regular, early screening is essential to catching this disease before it begins and in its earliest stages.
Survival rate is over 90% when caught in early stages.
