April 2020 the entire world seemed to shut down, but for me; I was having the TIME OF MY LIFE!!
I had just accepted a job offer the day before the Covid Quarantine had officially begun in Michigan, and pretty much everywhere else. But for me, it meant I had a new job waiting that I did not need to start for over a month, I had just built 2 new computers/gaming rigs that January, and now suddenly computers were scarce to get and the prices skyrockets, so for this family of nerds we were all set!!! My wife(Director of IT and official nerd) and 2 boys Ander and Elliott and I were all set!!
I spent a month with no obligations of enjoying a beer or 2 a day and maybe even some scotch while playing games and enjoying life with my family.
My wife returned to work 1 week prior to me, I remember the date, it has documentation……
May 13th 2020 life was well, I woke up Katie(wife) left for work and the boys were getting up and doing their thing, I shared some breakfast and then shortly after text book Appendicitis symptoms kicked in, I was in pain, laying on the bed and asked Ander to take care of lunch for him and his brother because I just could not handle it. I called my doctor that day, that afternoon at their direction I went to a Med Center the moment Katie got home from work. They told me it is nothing serious and probably just an ulcer or something from too much Ibuprofen. Katie and I disagreed and went to the ER.
The Med Center and ER visit is a whole other story and one of the worst times of my life. End result: definitely appendicitis and it is pretty bad, the ER surgeon said it was one of the worst he had seen in awhile.
I woke up in a hospital bed sometime past midnight. It was appendicitis, we took care of it, BUT there is something else, we don’t know what it is and you will need a colonoscopy.
