Race to Get Your Rear in Gear

Welcome to our "Race to Get Your Rear in Gear" fundraising page.

My husband, Chas Howe, and I are former race car drivers. We are coming out of "retirement" to compete in a fun race division called the "Stacker Cars." This event is part of the "Destruction 'O'verload THE FINALE" at Owosso Speedway on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

We accepted Owosso Speedway owner Rex Wheeler's invitation to race together as a team for the first time ever. After being retired from racing for years, we decided to use this opportunity to raise awareness about colorectal cancer, a cause very close to our hearts.

This fundraiser is dedicated to honoring my sister, Jane Simko Setterington, who passed away earlier this year, as well as her son, Wayne Setterington Jr., a colorectal cancer survivor. Jane was the former promoter and manager of Owosso Speedway, and my nephew used to race there as well. It's important to note that Jane did not pass from colorectal cancer herself. However, she was deeply involved in supporting the fight against it because of her son’s long battle with the disease.

When Wayne was first diagnosed at the age of 26, Jane made it her mission to help him fight. She became deeply knowledgeable about colorectal cancer, using that knowledge to support Wayne throughout his 18-year journey. While it has been a roller coaster ride, Jane’s dedication and care made Wayne’s path easier to navigate. I know that if she were here, she would be helping to promote this race and raise awareness about the disease that has affected her son for so long.

Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the U.S., but it’s also one of the most preventable with proper screening. Your donation can save lives by supporting awareness and screenings for colon and rectal cancer. If you're unable to contribute, please consider sharing this page with your family and friends.
