Why we golf...
In 2013 my wife Sara was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer soon after we were married. She is currently doing great and has been in remission for over 5 years. It quickly became clear to the both of us that this disease is becoming a huge issue as we saw more and more friends/family get diagnosed.
People ranging from 19 - 60 years old, and some who ended up losing their long fought battle. For some reason there has been increasing diagnosis' of colon cancer in young people over the years. They are predicting that by 2030 those diagnosed will increase by 90% for 20-34 year olds.
The scary thing is there really isn't an answer for why this is happening." But for reasons we don't fully understand, the incidence in the United States and other developed countries of Colon Cancer under the age of 50 has been increasing at an incredible pace," Tom Weber, MD, professor of surgery, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and chief of surgery, Department of Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System, Brooklyn Campus.
Long story short, come out and help support the cause.
