Colon Cancer Awareness Walk
Hello!! You are invited to attend the 2023 Second Annual Colon Cancer Awareness Walk put together by community health care providers!! This year it will be held at Vista Del Camino Park at 0930 AM in Scottsdale, AZ, March 18th, 2023.
In 2022, a local advanced therapeutic gastroenterologist and medical students wanted to participate in a walk to support colon cancer awareness and its survivors. Unfortunately, not an event existed! They took it upon themselves to create an educational, community event, where we could promote awareness for preventative measures against colon cancer, as well as educate guideline recommendations in the change in age from 50 to 45 for screening colonoscopies.
Colon cancer is the third most common cancer and is the third leading cause of cancer-related-deaths in the U.S. It is one of the most preventable cancers if found early by screening colonoscopies and preventative methods.
The goal of this event is to increase our community knowledge in signs and symptoms of colon cancer and to promote screening colonoscopies in efforts to prevent the poor experience and outcomes that come along with colon cancer.
All donations will be given to support the Colon Cancer Coalition, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent early deaths by supporting patients, increasing screening colonoscopies, reducing health disparities and funding research.
We appreciate any contributions given to support the cause!
