Cindy is my “Why”. Cindy, my identical twin sister, was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer with liver and lung Mets at the age of 46. She fought to beat it for 21 months. During that time, she and I had many conversations where she expressed her deepest regret was not getting diagnosed earlier. We never thought her stomach issues were anything more than dietary related or IBS. She had what she considered ‘flare-ups”. She’d adjust her diet and would feel better for a bit. Hindsight is always 20-20. I can’t bring my best friend back, but I can continue to honor her memory by working to increase awareness and maybe prevent others from having to go through the same thing.
