In December 2023, my mom Laura was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer after having her first routine colonoscopy with no family history of the disease. It was a heartbreaking and shocking diagnosis but by the grace of God she had an amazing medical team that provided remarkable care for the following 10 months. With determination and an unceasing joy, she completed chemotherapy in August 2024 and is now in surveillance! We are immensely grateful for the support friends and family have already provided for my mom and our family over the past year. As we continue forward, we want to shine a light on all those impacted by colon cancer. We have decided to join the efforts of the Colon Cancer Coalition this year to help end this terrible disease. Did you know that colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer? Only lung cancer kills more Americans each year than colon cancer, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The Colon Cancer Coalition wants to make colorectal cancer screening a life-long health practice available to all, saving lives from this devastating disease. With increasing awareness of the disease, its signs and symptoms, and access to screenings, millions of lives can be saved.
