As you all know my fiancé Jason passed away from colon cancer in January 2018. He endured numerous chemotherapy and radiation treatments, along with countless hospital visits. During this hard time, he kept his sense of humor and entertained the hospital staff, and his caregivers. I remember the first day he came back from an appointment in a wheelchair. The nurses wanted to help him stand up, but he insisted on being left alone. He stood up, and pretended he collapsed and had the entire floor at the hospital come running over to make sure he was ok. Once everyone came to the realization he was joking around, the entire floor erupted in laughter. Jason never wanted anyone to worry about him; he was more concerned with everyone else being ok with his diagnosis. He remained hopeful that he would beat colon cancer, even as the long appointments started taking a turn for the worse. Jason became an advocate for colon cancer awareness towards the end of his battle. He would encourage anyone he had a conversation with to get screened for colon cancer. The biggest thing I learned from this experience, with the help of Jason, is to appreciate the small things in life because these are, in fact the big things. Jason will forever be in our memories and hearts. No one should have to experience such a horrible diagnosis at any age, let alone right at the point where everything you ever wanted in life was right in front of you. This is why I have signed up to raise awareness for colon cancer.
Please help me support Colon Cancer Coalition by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Colon Cancer Coalition's great cause! Additionally, you can ask me how you can get involved too.
Together, we can make a difference!
