I'm participating in the 2020 San Antonio Get Your Rear In Gear 5K Run/Walk, an event to benefit the Colon Cancer Coalition. I want to make a difference for the thousands of people in my community touched by colon cancer.

This event is especially close to my heart because my sister Jennifer, Hun as I call her, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in June 2014. She was only 29, with my nephew 1yr at the time and a new husband to care for. My sister continued to stay positive during her treatment and her courage still inspires me today.

My beautiful sister survived 8 months of stage 4 colon cancer and in January 2015 we got news that there were little to no signs left. It was none short of a miracle. In February the cancer had returned and so round two of treatment began. Still Hun, kept on living life fully and ever thankful for her 2nd chance at life.

It was our little routine, me picking up lunch, whatever her fancy, and taking to her every treatment day. A little bit of time we got to spend with each other catching up on kids, hubbies, being silly sisters. I cherished these moments together and will forever.

In June 2015, our family's world was turned upside down as my dear Hun lost her battle with colon cancer. I know her spirit will continue to live on through all family and friends that she loved with all her heart.
