Connor Creekmore

Connor has a memory box full of pictures of him and his Mom, but those pictures stop when he was 16 months old. His Mom, Andrea, had an uneventful and healthy pregnancy, but when Connor was 3 months old, was diagnosed with Colon Cancer, Stage IV, at the age of 35, and passed 13 months later.

Connor is now 6 years old and started kindergarten this past year. It is amazing to watch his knowledge and inquisitiveness for everything grow. He has been the top fundraiser of the event the last two years. In preparing for this year's event I asked him if he knew why he did the race each year and raised the money. His reply was very heartfelt..”I do it so that other people’s moms don’t get sick and can help people get better!”

I know that Andrea would be proud of his determination to help others through participation, efforts to raise money to help others, and increase awareness of the event. Connor is determined to run as much of the race as he can and I hope that I can continue to keep up with him. Last year he ran almost a full ¾ of a mile from the start.

Colon cancer among the young has been increasing, and yet the reason for the increase is not known. Connor will be participating in the GYRIG Raleigh 2020 for the fifth consecutive year, along with his family and many of Andrea’s dear friends.

Money raised by this event goes towards education initiatives and expanding colon cancer screening. Colon cancer has a high survival rate, if diagnosed in the early stages.
Please consider joining our family in this event through either participation in the 5K Run/Walk and/or through a donation towards the event. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
