Hey there out there! My name is Janelle, I’m 42 and I’m getting my rear in gear to help raise awareness and help fight colon cancer! I lost my grandpa in August 1994 to colon cancer. He was diagnosed in 1988, just 2 years after his younger sister Jo, lost her battle. Both my mom and myself have had screenings since, not only due to age, but family history. Had it not been for the family history aspect, it might have, at least for me, be something I would have shrugged off until later in life and could be potentially something be something I’d be battling myself right now! They have found 2 consecutive preC polyps with my mom in the last 6 yrs and a benign polyp with me in 2017. So, now we get screened every 5 yrs. And that’s ok! A wee bit of unpleasantness in the prep for a colonoscopy far outweighs finding out you have cancer and going through treatments et al. I want my family, friends and everyone else, whether they have a family history or not, to get THEIR rears in gear! Also, make sure you get your eyes checked! They found something in both my retinas that is linked to hereditary colon cancer! (who would have thought?!) So, get checked out, eat healthy, stay active and let’s do all we can to kick this (and all) cancer to the curb! Thanks so much! 💙
